           Did you know that you can often alleviate negative emotions or physical discomfort by tapping on specific points on your body?

           Tapping
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            , has garnered significant attention for its effectiveness in regulating emotions and relieving stress. There are over 100 studies supporting this with evidence. Recent research covered in
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            revealed that practicing tapping resulted in a significant decrease in participants' emotional states and physiological markers. The results included decline in anxiety (−40%), depression (−35%), post-traumatic stress disorder (−32%), pain (−57%), cravings (−74%) and cortisol (−37%).

      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           An introduction to Tapping
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Tapping leverages the body's electrical nature. You've probably experienced a similar effect, positive or negative, accidentally countless times in your life. Think of the effect that touching a hot stove as it sends an electric impulse along your nerves to your brain. In a similar but positive manner, tapping on specific energy points (meridians) stimulates the smooth flow of energy throughout the body. When negative emotions become stuck, these energy pathways can become clogged, leading to discomfort or distress. By tapping on these points, we send small and controlled-intensity shock waves that help to release blockages and restore balance. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Here is a simple step-by-step guide to tapping: 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           STEP 1
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Identify the issue you want to address and rate its intensity on a scale of 1 to 10. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           STEP 2
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Begin tapping on the side of your hand (pressure point 1) while repeating an affirmation that acknowledges the issue: "
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Even though
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            [your issue goes here e.g.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           I'm anxious
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            ],

            Tap on each of the remaining pressure points, repeating the issue (e.g.

            Pressure point 9: Under the arm.

           Pressure points are at both sides of the body so you can choose whether you’d like to tap on the right, left side or mix it.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           Repeat the process until the intensity diminishes.

           People who successfully quit have to want to change! They don’t approach quitting with a “let’s see how it goes” mindset which will invariably lead to a half-hearted attempt. They are fully committed.

  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;font&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

            Ask yourself

           : What is/are your main driver(s) for quitting? Health? Your friends and family? Your work? Finances? Or simply because you’re tired of being controlled by this habit? Write it/them down and revisit it when cravings hit.

    &lt;font&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/font&gt;&#xD;

           Most people think of smoking as just a habit, but it’s more than that. It typically serves a purpose, real or imagined, whether you realize it or not. Successful quitters spend time observing their cravings and their emotions. They are clear on the “reward” they get from smoking. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/font&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;font&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/font&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;font&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;b&gt;&#xD;
        
            Ask yourself:
           &#xD;
      &lt;/b&gt;&#xD;
      
           Why do I reach for a cigarette? Is it to manage stress, feel a sense of independence, seek comfort, avoid boredom, fit in socially, or suppress my appetite? There may be one or many reasons why. Identifying them is key. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/font&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;font&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/font&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;font&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;b&gt;&#xD;
        
            #3 BE OPEN TO ALTERNATIVES:
           &#xD;
      &lt;/b&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/font&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;font&gt;&#xD;
      
            Once you know why you smoke, the next step is finding healthier ways to fulfill those needs. If you usually smoke during your morning commute out of boredom, perhaps your subconscious could accept an alternative such as sipping water, listening to an engaging podcast, or practicing deep breathing. The key is to ask the part of your subconscious which governs your habit, what would it accept as an alternative. There will typically always be an alternative that has a less damaging impact on you or others.

  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;font&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           On your path to success, you will frequently have difficult moments when you encounter cravings, stress or strong emotions. The most successful quitters prepare for this by learning techniques, or understanding and engaging in activities that relieve anxiety, reduce stress, and strengthen their motivation.
